Femicide

I’m wondering about the female baby killing done in asia, africa, and south america. Could it be because of their colonial history?

Let me explain.

A man is the genetic giver in a relationship, and the woman is the receiver. When a man has sex with a woman, his genes are passed on.

Now, all those continents I mentioned were heavily colonised by external forces, mostly europeans. To this day we know the coloniser’s impact is left there in various forms.

I’m proposing an additional consequence of colonisation. The killing of female babies after birth.

When a woman gives birth, she either has a boy or a girl. If this boy grows to adulthood, he will have the opportunity to reproduce, and so will the girl.

The only difference is that only the man will inject his genetics into the body of whichever woman he has sex with.

In the end, the child will carry both of the parents genetics, but essentially the woman is the receiver of the counterpart.

Now comes the survival mechanism part.

When a colonised man, during colonialism, has sex with a woman, he is most likely to be with a co-native woman. The result of a successful pregnancy are a native offspring.

We know rapes happen in situations of power abuse. A coloniser is very likely to sexually abuse a colonised. So here comes the important part.

When a colonised woman receives a man’s DNA, it could have been very likely that this man was also a foreigner.

This means that in the tribal survival perspective, a woman who bears the child of a foreign man will deviate her offspring from her tribe, genetically.

You can skip a few steps and understand where I’m going with this.

Essentially, in a situation of colonisation, a woman suffers the most, as she is put in a limbo where she may have no choice but to be expelled from her own community. At least it’s highly likely.

This fear may have induced the subsequent horrors of female baby killing.

The natives may think:

“oh, our men cannot be impregnated and diluted, but our women can. So we must prevent this from happening.

What can we do then? Simple answer? Reduce the chances of that happening.

Simplest execution of this simple solution? Have less females in the population. Kill them when they are babies.

Diluting the native blood and bringing shame upon our ancestors is a greater loss.”

Why else would this be decreasingly prevalent in those communities?

The people weren’t always this barbaric. They didn’t always practice this.

This sexual cleansing of babies is still a great fear in many parts of this world. Many traumatised minds still instill this value into the ether.

Many people may just do it out of habit. “My fathers did it, so I’m going to follow without question. This is the culture.”

In a twisted way, this strategy is a survival one. It bears the burden of death for the sake of life.

And do you wanna know why I think that baby femicide didn’t always happen?

If you’re any at all familiar with Hinduism and vedic traditions, then you know how sacred they held the woman in their culture and soul. She was a goddess, but to them, she is no more.

Nietzsche spoke from Europe. We have killed god. Vishnu spoke from India. We have killed god too.

It’s also funny that this ancient polytheistic culture is the ancestor of Indians and south asians now, who are avid consumer of atrocities against their gods.

It’s like the first generation wealth creator. They make vast amounts of progress. 3 generations later, decay.

Wealth turns into poverty.

Privy. I wanted to include this word. It popped into my mind a few minutes ago. I had to google it, I didn’t know what it meant. But here’s the definition. Privy: hidden secret, sharing in the knowledge of a hidden secret.
